As the name implies, GSB is a game-server browser -- that is, an application used to navigate the ever-growing list of game servers that one might join.

There are an extreme number of games available, most of which feature fantastic and intense gameplay. However, it seems that many software publishers focus only on the gameplay, and ignore important but auxillary features -- the in-game server browser, for one!

GSB is installed on your system and detects the games that it supports. If found, your games automatically show up, and you browse through the exact same servers, just through a much better interface. GSB aims to do more than just browse lists of game servers -- you can current watch for buddies, monitor servers, administer servers via a remote console, manage player identities, and much more. See the About page for more details.

Apr 10, 2010 GSB is Open Source!

GSB has been released as a open source GPL project!  Please use the "Project Page" link in the menu bar to the left.

A new version of GSB should be released soon from the new open source code base.  If you're interested in making a contributing some code to the project, please do so!

Apr 14, 2007 Version 1.1.2 Released
  • Added support for filtering based on arbitrary server variables
Filters can now be specified based on server variables that are returned from the server. Sometimes, games or mods expose additional server information that is not used by GSB, but still may be of use to the user. Filters of this kind can now be specified in the "Edit Filter" dialog.
Oct 24, 2006 Version 1.1.1 Released
  • Added support for Counter-Stike 1.6
Support for Counter-Strike 1.6 is complete. CS requires multiple server queries to retreive complete information, so refreshing CS servers may take more time than other games. Information is queried including general server information, the player list, and server variables (rules).
  • Enhanced Server Information
An additional server information display is now present that lists details about the current server, and displays graphical player statistics. For those games that return a player score, a score histogram is displayed. For games that display team information, a team chart is displayed. Additional combinations are possible as well, depending on which information is returned by the server.
  • Improved master server support
As part of the CS implementation, many master servers are present, and the information from all masters may not be of interest. Right-clicking on the game and choosing the master server will display a dialog box that lists the possible master servers, and those that are currently enabled.
  • Non-responding servers are now retried (default: 3 times)
In part because of the extra network demand caused by the CS enhancements above, servers are automatically retried when they do not respond. The default of 3 tries, means that there is 1 initial refresh attempt, and if it fails, then 2 subsequent attempts are made. Values below 1 are treated as 1.
